This morning I was listening to my mentor, Bob Proctor, as I have so often, talk about goals. He mentioned how the goal that is right for you is one that inspires you, that excites you and challenges you. Which got me thinking….
How often have you written your goals down, and looked at the list and felt very little emotion? Or perhaps despondent? This is because we have been conditioned to only strive for things that we know we can achieve. When last did you think of something you really, really want, but didn’t have a clue how you would get it?
We are also conditioned to set goals that are realistic (I do believe I have seen this in some goal-setting seminars). Did the Wright brothers have a realistic goal of getting something to fly when previously the airspace was exclusively for birds. Research has proven that sometimes the more unrealistic a goal is, the better the chances of you achieving it.
You see, goals are there to help you grow. When you set goals that you know how to reach, you go sideways – there is no challenge in getting them. This is where procrastination sets in, or even boredom. If you would like to get some passion back into your life, and be really eager to jump out of bed in the morning, then perhaps now is a good time to set bigger, brighter, more exciting goals.
Use your intellectual faculty of imagination – and give your imagination time to focus on the business you would truly love to have; the relationships or the income. If you ever heard a child being reprimanded for day-dreaming, chances are that you decided it was a non-productive activity to let your mind wander. I’d like to challenge you to turn this around in your favour right now. Did you know that Richard Branson went to look at Necker Island long before he could afford to purchase an Island? The Wright brothers set out to create an aircraft that would fly, when no-one had ever succeeded in getting anything off the ground before.
What would you simply LOVE to be doing? How would you like your next financial statement to look? Where would you take a holiday if time and money were no object at all?
Have a great day,
with love and gratitude
Jill
