Whatever you think about, you get more of. When I ask people what they want, they can always tell me what they don’t want, but very few – around 1% – can tell me what they really really want.
You see, where we are right now is our reality. Wherever you are, whatever your circumstances – that is your currently reality. You’ll be able to tell me what you like about it and what you don’t like about it. It’s easy to imagine a reality 10-20% away from where you are – but very different to imagine a reality in the completely opposite direction or earning ten times what you’re currently earning. When we can’t imagine it, we think that we probably wouldn’t want it, or it might come with problems and take more effort than we’re prepared to put in.
Just for today, try to imagine exactly what you would like. Imagine living where you would like to live, doing what you would love to do, having the income or wealth you’d like to have. Imagine having perfect health and fitness, being able to do exactly what you’d like to do without thought for a body that no longer looks or feels like it did 20 years ago! Imagine all of this taking less time and effort than you’re investing right now, being easier than it is right now. Then tell me what you’d really like.
When we are faced with challenges, it’s easy to give up on what we really really want, and just want to get back to where we were. I wonder why, when you or someone close to you is diagnosed with a particular disease or illness, you discover many others with that disease, when perhaps you hadn’t known of anyone in the same situation several years ago.
It becomes your reality, and you become more empathetic to others in a similar situation. There is a certain comfort in being able to agonize over the same issues. This feels good to be surrounded by others in a similar or worse state than we are in. However, it may be the very thing that prevents you from overcoming this illness or disease. You start to see more signs that point to it – the more you look, the more evidence you see of it everywhere. Is this what you want to see?
What if your reality was free of any illness, what would you discuss and think about in the time you’re currently putting into that thing? Is that what you want?
Decide what you really, really want, then find others who are heading in that same direction – and fill your mind and conversation with the same things they are talking about. It will only be a matter of time before the reality starts showing up for you.
Have a great weekend,
Regards
Jill
