It drives me nuts when I hear gurus and experts talking about goals needing to be realistic. You’ve probably heard of SMART goals? That R does not mean realistic. Setting realistic goals has got to be the worst possible advice.
In today’s 3 minute Chooseday video I explain more about this. It really does make a difference when it comes to creating the life you want vs the life you think you can have.
So what do you think R stands for?
Enjoy your Chooseday!

Speaking to a friend yesterday, I asked him what did he do to get his business from the $8 to the $15 million dollar turnover mark (he has since increased to over $20 million).
There were two things he did but first he said that he had to make the decision. He said that once he had made the decision, the next step was a shift in his mindset. He did what he needed to do in terms of engaging the right people on his team and expanding into markets that could make his company grow.
Last night I was listening to a panel of West Australia’s most successful professional speakers. There were plenty of gems, and again, making the decision to build a successful business was the first step in their success. Since then, there has obviously been a lot of work, dedication and commitment but it all started with a decision.
You see, when we make a decision and commit to it, we commit to working through the lows and the highs along the journey.
So what will you decide today?
Have a great week!
We value and respect your privacy.

Do you want a happier heart?
If you knew one quick, easy way to stay healthy, would you do it?
Latest research has shown how gratitude affects our health. Yes, something as simple and obvious as gratitude can give us a happier heart!
Guess what? Your success is determined by you being able to continue doing what you’re doing. If you can’t get out of bed, you can’t achieve your goals.
One easy way to be happier, sleep better, be more successful is to write in your Attitude of Gratitude Journal.
If you have got yours in your bookshelf, it won’t work there! You need to be writing in it daily!
If you need to order one, click here to get yours.

Now that the Easter weekend is over and the chocolate hangover wears off, our topic for this Chooseday is ENERGY!
As a business coach I am always on the lookout for the differentiators of good vs great. What makes someone really stand out? What makes a successful business? What keeps the consistency in business? What enables some people to work with their ideal clients while others hate going to work?
While other factors are important, today I’m talking about energy and how it affects everything we do.
Whatever we do affects our energy. What we eat as well as our environment has an impact. Our thoughts are both affected by our energy levels as well as contribute to them.
The question is: what do you need your energy levels to be and what are you going to do about it?
Business coaching can help you decide what your priorities are so that you can be doing activities that build your energy rather than draining it. If you don’t have energy, you will find it hard to run a business and attract clients. With energy, business becomes fun and energizing!
What a way to start my Chooseday Tuesday as I touch down in Perth. This is why I love being a business coach and thinking partner! In my inbox I see this from an amazing woman who I’ve had the privilege of coaching her on her online business from time to time over the last 4 years. She had a website that had great content but wasn’t making any money. We worked through some beliefs and some strategies as to how she could monetize it. I started by pushing her to put one ebook up for $8 that she was previously giving away as a free download. She made her first sale the same day!
Today I get this email: (details left out to retain confidentiality)
“I have created an online Challenge for … to help them address the new … standards. Its a 3 month online challenge.
It starts tomorrow and I have had over 80 people sign up. At $50 per person that’s over $4000 in 2 weeks……. YAY!!!!!” The many hours (and dollars) I have invested are finally starting to pay off – all it took was a belief that I had something valuable to offer. Thank you Jill for giving me the courage to put myself out there and believe in myself.”
When we start anything, it’s often making the first bit of progress that is the hardest. If you’ve never made money online before, i.e without having to be in front of someone to accept their money or without having to deliver a product or service live, then making the first $1000 from a website is extremely exciting.
The amount of work that has to go on behind the scenes to get the first $1000 is way more than the next $1000’s after that. This is why it was especially exciting to get this email. Now that she has seen how easy it is to use her unique skills, learnings, strengths and intellectual property to receive non-exertion income I know that she will continue to do this and more on a regular basis.
In any business, online and brick and mortar, there is a lot of work in the initial stages but once it is set up properly then the reward will exceed the effort.
The key is knowing which parts of the business to get moving first to bring in the dollars. I’ve seen enough new and established businesses to be able to help you get yours really doing well. It starts with deciding what you really, really want in your business! (or career!)
With love and gratitude,
Jill
Thank you!
Thank you for voting for me to win the Nifnex Top 100 Influential Person of the Year award within Perth’s Small Business Community. We had a great Bollywood-style party on Friday night celebrating with the other award winners.
I appreciate your support, particularly as I have only been in Perth for under 6 years and Evolve Dynamic is only six-and-a-half years old.
Do you need more video in your business?
I think every small business needs to have a video with a personal message from the leaders of the business. Even corporations are using video more, with CEO’s and marketing directors being the ‘face’ of the business. People do business they know, like and trust – so when you make it easy for people to get to know you, business increases. I’ve been blown away by the number of awesome people who have requested me to coach them after watching me from afar, some for up to six years!
The problem is that some videos can be extremely expensive to produce, and could get no results. I spent over $6000 once on video that I wasn’t even able to use. Now I do video regularly which costs me a fraction of that. I’ve even found some of my “home-made” video clips get more viewers and better results than the professional ones.
Send me an email if you would like more info on how I can help you get more ideal customers using authentic video.
Have an awesome week,
Jill
Imagine you have a torch that doesn’t seem to be working properly. Do you simply throw it out? No, you would either recharge the batteries or put new ones in. You don’t judge how well something works when the batteries are totally flat.
Recharge those batteries and then evaluate how well it works.
If you start a goal setting exercise with a flat battery, feeling low and run down, it’s not going to be productive.
It’s way better to do goal setting when you are feeling a bit more optimistic and when your batteries are recharged.
So what do you do then if your batteries are flat and you want to get your goals achieved?
Start with listing everything you have actually achieved. This lifts your confidence and recharges your batteries.
It reminds you that you have had success in some areas. It focuses your mind on the good, not only the bad.
As a result, the goals you set are going to be the ones that energize you, the right goals for you.
It’s a bit like standing at the top of a mountain – it’s so much easier to see the bigger picture, than when you are standing at the bottom wondering how you are ever going to find your way up.
Why list your achievements?
1. It helps you focus on what has gone right rather than on what has gone wrong.
2. You get a more positive start to your goal setting.
3. Your goals will be more aligned with who you are.
4. It reminds you of the fact that you can achieve goals.
5. You see the bigger picture of your life as a whole. This allows you to set goals that get you closer to your greater good and higher purpose.
Why many people don’t do this:
1. They are so used to playing down their achievements because they don’t want to stand out.
2. If you’re in a negative spiral, you tend to question everything – wondering if anything is going right at all. This is not a productive or useful exercise at all.
Go ahead and list all your achievements and successes. Even if you think it’s a small success or inconsequential, write it down anyhow.
Have fun with this, till next Chooseday,
Kind regards
Jill

In this week’s chooseday video I talk about retrenchment and job loss and what can be done if you know someone in this situation. If you have a business, I’m sure you will find it useful too.
According to Forbes, only 8% of people are successful with New Years resolutions.
Goodbye resolutions….
We are into the second month of the year and for 92% of the population, New Years resolutions are long forgotten! Where do you fit in?
Resolutions don’t work. Which is why there is such a low percentage who benefit from them.
Getting clear on our goals, and then having steps to follow that can get us to our goals, DOES work. But only if they are goals that excite and engage you.
How are your goals going? Do you have some exciting adventures lined up this year?
What about your business or career?
Do you have a coach or a mentor who will hold you accountable to your goals?
Accountability increases the odds of your success by 200%.
I would like to hear what your goals are this year. What goal is scary and exciting for you?

Hello from India!
I’m having so much fun in India. If you haven’t yet seen my photos on Facebook, go and check them out. (You may have seen the pic of Subbu, bringing me desserts…)
In just a few days I have so many things to write about in my Chooseday message! I don’t even know where to start.
Traveling is such an enriching experience. I’ve been to Stathome Basillica where the disciple “doubting Thomas” is buried.
We went to a Hindu temple where we queued along with about four busloads of people coming to see the 8 Goddesses.
It amazes me how in some areas there is so much acceptance of other religions, beliefs, expectations, while in others there is so little tolerance.
On my way through Singapore, which has over 5 million people living on a tiny island, I learnt there is a major emphasis on tolerance and embracing other cultures. In Chennai, here in India, the different cultures get on very well as far as I’ve been told.
Most of all, it’s the service that has blown me away. The attitude towards the customer in the Taj hotel is outstanding. Yes it is a 5 star hotel, but not all 5 star hotel staff have this awesome attitude.
I was sitting at a late lunch, having completed my chicken and vegetable masala. Along comes Subbu with two little desserts.
“We know Madam doesn’t eat gluten or sugar, so we made this dessert for you”. I had not ordered it nor had I enquired about it.
They had anticipated what I might want next, and provided the perfect solution. I also noticed they didn’t bill me for it either.
I hadn’t yet been in the hotel for 24 hours and this was only the second meal here. This is service with a capital S as far as I am concerned.
I interpret it as an Awesome Attitude towards the customer – and as I’m the customer in this case, I felt great. So great that I’m sharing it with people all over the world!
It got me thinking about business in Australia and other parts of the world.
If you have your own business: How can we improve our attitudes towards those who pay our salaries: the customer?
If you work for a company and have “internal customers” or other departments that you provide a service to, how can you serve them even better?
Having an Awesome Attitude can make all the difference!
Have a great Chooseday and spare a thought for me having to sample all the varieties of Indian food, I’ll be rolling home next week!
Kind regards
Jill
