“What is the problem NOT?” This is one of the most useful questions.
Every single client I’ve worked with on their goals has found this empowering. It shifts the focus from whatever problem you think you have, to all the areas of your life that are running smoothly.
For example: when my husband was facing retrenchment for the second time in 4-and-a-half years, the answer to “what is the problem not?” is as follows:
It is not a problem of health, we are all healthy and alive!
It is not a relationship problem – we are happily married, have been for 18 years so far and will be for the rest of our lives;
It is not a problem with our kids – they are all happily settled in their schools.
Remind me what the problem was again? Ah yes, simply a matter of cash flow which is easily remedied!
