Jill connects you to your most powerful self, shifting attitudes, beliefs and actions to spark achievement rapidly by going straight to the issue.  She draws out your creativity to craft a goal larger than perhaps imagined.

Now your eyes are open, and the path is clear and straight-forward.  Now you tap the full power in you to achieve what’s next for you.

The Sandpaper Principle

The Sandpaper principle – every now and then there is a person that rubs you up the wrong way.
They have been sent to you like sandpaper.
In the same way as sandpaper smooths wood and brings out it’s natural beauty, people are sent to smooth your rough edges. Sandpapering isn’t comfortable or enjoyable, but you’re a better person because of it. When you’re done, the sandpaper gets thrown away and your natural beauty shines through. They help you shine in the long run!

Remember this whenever you are irritated or upset by another person.  Changing your perspective on each interaction can make you feel more positive towards them. When you’re feeling more positive, you see opportunities rather than challenges. You see advantages rather than disadvantages. You will start noticing more to be grateful for.

One of my clients remarked that he’s starting to look polished like a piece of antique furniture! Sometimes challenges are thrown at us to polish us – to allow our true beauty to shine.

Look for the good

Those who are confident in who they are, what they want, and what their strengths are, are happy to see others shining.
Those who are insecure and concerned about not getting enough business seek every opportunity to show that they know more than others.

Just for today – look for the good in each person you come into contact with. Instead of trying to compete with them in conversation, look for ways to listen, to see their talents and how you can make them feel good about themselves.
Experts create, amateurs compete.

Powerful business mentor

“We’ve been working with Jill, The “Tap Your Next Power” Mentor, for a couple of years now.  She has been fantastic for our branch, we get her to work with my team of property mentors once a month every month, we do fun stuff: sometimes we’re doing our property mentor training down at the beach, sometimes we’re doing it in the office, we’ve even had times that we have done it Kings Park overlooking the Swan River. She gets each of us to tap into our own unique powerful attributes.

Jill has been very good value to me and my team because she challenges what is possible. She has been able to come in as a breath of fresh air, a different voice but still focused on getting the same results that we are looking for.

The good thing with Jill, as our business mentor, is she understands our business because she’s been working with us for two years. So with a lot of pleasure I’d like to introduce Jill, she comes highly recommended.”

How are your resolutions coming along?

Can you believe how quickly the year has progressed? I’m wondering how your goals are coming along – the ones you may have set a year or two ago, or perhaps you set them as New Year’s Resolutions?
Resolutions rarely stick (sorry to disappoint you) – so don’t wonder why your good intentions on Jan 1 have dissipated – no matter how disciplined you are.
Resolutions are very often what you think others think you should be doing – or trying to change who you are into a different person.
You may achieve them, but it will most likely be at the expense of something important to you.   Setting goals that you actually intend to achieve – now those are the ones that do work.
Yes I know you know this – you probably tell others about this – so why am I talking to you about it?
In the words of Zig Ziglar when asked if motivation works:

“People often say that motivation doesn’t last.

Well, neither does bathing – that’s why we recommend it daily.”

You eat food daily, you drink water daily, you wash daily (or that’s what I thought – and if you don’t, I’d rather be none the wiser about your daily ablutions!)

Just as our body needs nourishment, so too does our mind. If we want to achieve great goals – ones that scare and excite us, we need to feed our mind with good strong positive thoughts – every single day.

Have you ever had a bad attitude? by Bob Proctor

“Victor Frankl once wrote, “Everything can be taken from a person but one thing: the last of human freedoms – to choose one’s attitudes in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.” Frankl was right. Attitude is a choice. You could be faced with a thousand problems, many or most over which you have absolutely no control. However, there is always one thing you are in complete and absolute control of and that is your own attitude.

When you surrender control of your attitude to what appears to be a negative situation, you will react to that situation. More often than not, reacting is inappropriate. On the other hand, if you were to remain objective, you would respond to the situation appropriately, thereby creating a winning situation.

If attitude is such an important word, why do so few people understand it? To be honest, it wasn’t until I was in my late 20s when I finally understood its full impact. All through my teens and into my early adult life, I can’t tell you the number of times that I heard, “Bob, if you’d just change your attitude, you would do a lot better.” In retrospect I can easily see the cause of my problem. I didn’t know what attitude was, let alone know how to change it!

Attitude is the composite of your thoughts, feelings and actions. Your conscious mind controls feeling and ultimately dictates whether your feelings will be positive or negative by your choice of thoughts, then your body displays those choices through action and behavior.

Attitude is actually a creative cycle that begins with your choice of thoughts. You do choose your thoughts and that choice is where your attitude originates. As you internalize ideas or become emotionally involved with your thoughts, you create the second stage in forming an attitude; you move your entire being – mind and body – into a new “vibration.” Your conscious awareness of this vibration is referred to as “feeling”.Your feelings are then expressed in actions or behaviors that produce the various results in your life.

Positive results are always the effect of a positive attitude. Attitude and results are inseparable. They follow one another like night follows day. What I mean by that is: one is the cause, the other, the result. There is a term we use to distinguish this “cause and effect” relationship, it is called The Law of Cause and Effect. Simply stated, if you think in negative terms, you will get negative results; if you think in positive terms you will achieve positive results. Ralph Waldo Emerson reiterated that same point when he said, “A person is what they think about all day long.” The results you achieve in life are nothing more than an expression of your thoughts, feelings, and actions. Take a close look at your life and evaluate the results you are achieving in various areas. See if you are able to relate your attitude to your results.

Winning and losing are opposite sides of the same coin – and that coin is attitude. There are many things wrong in this world; unfortunately that is all some people are able to see. Those who view the world in this light are often unhappy and somewhat cynical. Usually, their life is one of lack and limitation and it almost appears as if they move from one bad experience to another. I know people who are like this and I’m certain you do as well. It would appear as if they were born with a streak of bad luck and it has followed them around their whole life. These individuals are quick to blame circumstances or other people for their problems, rather than accepting responsibility for their life and their attitude.

Conversely, there are others who are forever winning and living the good life. They are the real movers and shakers who make things happen. They seem to go from one major accomplishment to another. They’re in control of their life; they know where they are going and know they will get there. They are the real winners in life and their wins are a matter of choice.

You can experience that kind of life as well, you only need to decide. Making that simple decision is the first step to a new life. Dorothea Brand once said, “Act as if it were impossible to fail,” and I challenge you to do so. By simply becoming aware that you can choose your thoughts each and every day, you will change your entire outlook. You have the power to choose an abundant life no matter your circumstances. That active choice will allow other positive people and opportunities to be attracted into your life. Don’t wait to experience all the wonderful things the universe has in store for you. Start today by working on your attitude and welcome the abundant life that you were meant to lead.

To your success,
Bob Proctor”

Bob Proctor has been my mentor since I first read “The Secret” in 2007. Training with him in Florida and then spending a week with him in Toronto in 2012 has literally changed my life!  Your thoughts really do determine your actions, and it’s your actions that give you your results. I love sharing the wisdom I have learnt with entrepreneurs and leaders.

Final Demand

This morning I opened a letter – “FINAL DEMAND” – it said at the top.

My heart started beating faster – what? I pay my bills on time, I make sure that our credit record is kept clean.  As I read down the letter I started getting irritated then angry.

This letter was from an Australian telecommunications company (no prizes for guessing which one if you live in Australia! Every country probably has one that everyone loves to complain about!).

I terminated my contract with them in January, was incorrectly billed for early termination fees – after several phonecalls they had agreed a credit note would be passed.

Fortunately I kept note of each call (many lasting well over an hour).  And this is not something can be delegated as this company refuses to speak to anyone apart from the account owner!

This morning I have spoken to Diane in Phillipines for 19 minutes, and then onto Andrew, also in the Phillipines in another department.  When I got transferred to Andrew, I spend 5 minutes getting my details verified AGAIN, so we start from scratch.

By this time I’ve decided to chill-out and focus on getting a solution – these people are doing the best they can, they simply have large bulky departments that are in need of co-ordinating.  I find out that it’s raining near Andrew’s home this morning.!

I refer Andrew to the notes made by Nelly in Manila on February 15th (yes, this is the same Australian company)  It’s now 31 minutes into the call and I’m very thankful that I have an hour before my next appointment, and that I’m able to write this article while I’m on hold waiting for Andrew’s supervisor!

Why am I telling you about this?  I’m sure you don’t particularly care for the details of my experience with this company – but you have probably experienced something similar several times in your life, right?

Two things:

–          How do you choose to respond when this sort of thing happens?

–          How do you treat your customers and how do you want them to feel about your company?

There are going to be times when we have to deal with issues that are irritating – or “make us angry”.  I put that in inverted commas because nothing actually makes us angry – we get angry from certain stimuli, but it’s actually our choice!  When we feel that other things make us angry – or make us happy – then we are not taking responsibility for our own actions.  You have total control over how you react to other people and to events or challenges.

It’s now 42 minutes into the call and I’m rather enjoying myself – the call centre music is playing away and I’m warming to my theme for today’s Chooseday message!  After all today is Chooseday – and we can choose what we want for our life.

How do you treat your customers when they call your business?  Have you defined your personal and company values?  Would your clients know your values if you asked them?  Emotion is a powerful thing – and if clients have a positive experience with you, they will refer you to others and give you repeat business.

So after 49 minutes on the phone (happy and grateful that I have a speakerphone so that I could use my hands for typing during this time!) – Andrew’s spoken to his supervisor and promised that I should receive a call confirming a full credit note within 48 hours.

I live in hope – until I hear that you can simply go to the industry ombudsman to get action. Why didn’t I do this before I spent nearly an hour on the phone?

We can choose to revel in the fight – and enjoy the justification that others have also experienced such shocking customer service – or we can choose to use our time for more constructive things. We can choose to get irritated and angry – and allow it to ruin our day – or we can choose to get it resolved as soon as is possible, and move on to other things.  What would happen if you chose to get really irritated, and talked about it to everyone you dealt with today? What sort of results do you think you would get?  Are you likely to feel empowered and up to any challenge?

So I’m going to shut-up about it now – and go and enjoy the rest of my Chooseday!

P.S. Yes, sometimes irritation and anger are emotions that serve you – they might spur you to take action!  Be mindful that they don’t hang around too long, however!
